Recently there have been some pretty interesting product developments in the Crisp scooter camp. Some really good and some I’ve not been so sure of and these bars fall in the latter. I was quite unsure of the whole new look and concept from crisp, bringing up-sweep to us as well as back-sweep, especially because I am a rider who steers well clear of back sweep. Still its a brand I’ve trusted in for many years so I knew they were worth a try
First up the bars are made using A new hydroformed aluminium technology has given these bars a huge edge over other aluminium bars. The technique ensures the bars have the lightness of aluminium bars (about 30% lighter than normal chromoly or steel bars) but the strength of steel bars. The light weight of these bars works really well with the size of them, being 680mmx610mm they are one of the lightest and tallest bars currently on the market. These bars are oversized which is why they are really strong, but they are only compatible with SCS because of them being aluminium. the most noticable feature of these bars is the back-sweep and up-sweep combo which are both set at five degrees.
How they ride
The back & up-sweep combination was the biggest worry to me but too my surprise the two work incredibly well. Not only does it look really good they feel amazing too. The pop, the rotation and whipping power they give is undeniably incredible. I also love how light these are, weighing in at just under one killogram. Even though they are made from aluminium, they are extremely strong, they have taken quite a lot of bar bending bails and are still standing true and tall.
The more I ride these bars, the more I love them. At first I was quite put off due to the backup-sweep (as I like to call it), but now I don’t think I could ride any bar that hasn’t got this. Overall I absolutely love these bars. The feel of them are amazing, they look awesome and the quality is of that we have all come to expect from the brand. Crisp have now successfully converted me to be a back-sweep rider and I will not be changing them anytime soon, don’t let this new concept put you off.
